Hi everyone!

Winter has finally settled in, and it’s cold! Boy is it cold. Low teens today in the morning in the greater New York metropolitan area. So… You feel like you need a break, but don’t want to break the bank. So where do you go? We got quite a few inquires in the last week asking us for ideas for a quick “Couples Getaway”. And few inquired about the Jersey Shore. So here are some ideas.

The Jersey Shore is very attractive to Frum Jewish couples from the New York/New Jersey area that look for a quick break. Be it for a couple of days mid week, or just a weekend getaway. And for good reason. So here are our recommendations, based on our own experience!

Hotel and Lodging

Ocean Place Resort Swimming PoolOcean Place Resort & Spa is a beautiful, recently renovated resort right on the beach in Long Branch, New Jersey. They are very friendly and accommodating. The premises, guest rooms and amenities are all beautiful, up to date and well taken care off. We were there a few times, and the staff was always extremely nice and helpful. We never stayed there over Shabbos, but we believe that they are able to accommodate with keys, etc since they host Kosher for Passover Hotel Programs every year. But please check with the hotel staff directly if you plan to stay over shabbos.

Minyan and Orthodox Synagogues

There are plenty of Shuls and places to go Daven nearby. During the week, we always Davened at Ohel Simha Park Avenue Synagogue. They have a few Minyunim daily and great parking. The Shul operates Syrian/Sephardic tradition and it is refreshing to see congregants who still know who to have respect for קדושת בית הכנסת.

Chabad of the Shore offers daily Shacharit morning prayer services as well as full Shabbat schedules for all services.

Kosher Food and Dining

656 Ocean is a kosher steakhouse and sushi bar less than a 5 minute drive from Ocean Place Resort and Spa. We highly recommend this restaurant for its ambiance, great food and quiet intimate ambiance. They are under the supervision of the Jersey Shore Orthodox Rabbinate (J.S.O.R.) and have a Mashgiach T’midi on premises at all times.

Other local food options are available in close by Deal, New Jersey including a low frills, simple Pizza Shop. If you want a bigger selection, you can drive approx 30 minutes to Lakewood, NJ, where you will find every type of kosher restaurant imaginable for every budget and taste.

To sum up this article: The Jersey Shore is a great place for a quick kosher vacation for Frum Jewish Couples to have a nice vacation on a budget. Especially appealing during the winter time, when the crowds are away and prices are truly affordable.
