The Roman Jewish community in Italy is the oldest in the world outside Israel. Until 1870 they were confined to the ghetto, where traditions were held firmly. Because they were poor people, their traditional simple style of cooking endured. It could be that the traditional plain cooking of the pagans and Christians of ancient Rome is an imitation of their Jewish neighbors.

Tevere’s Kosher Cuisine of Rome represents a style and tradition in food that has been greatly influenced by the way Rome cooks and eats to this day. Please join us to appreciate this original menu recognized by the New York Times to be unique.
