Mr. Broadway is OU certified Kosher & is located in the heart of the Garment Center just a few blocks from Macy’s, Madison Square Garden, the Javits Center, the Fur District and the Broadway Theaters.

Our History

Our Corporation, R.Gross Dairy Kosher, has been operating since 1922. In the late ‘60s R. Gross, named after its founder, was a thriving dairy restaurant and bakery occupying over half a block at 1372 Broadway. It was a landmark which many of our customers remember visiting with their fathers and grandfathers.

In 1985 the concept was changed from a kosher dairy establishment to a full Mediterranean Glatt Kosher restaurant under the name of Chez Lanu, Mr. Broadway. A delicatessen section was added along with a Chinese line and in 2000 we were the first to offer full Sushi menu at a midtown kosher establishment.

In 2011 we underwent our most significant transformation and reestablished ourselves as a staple in the NYC Kosher dinning community. While other kosher restaurants around us have either closed down or relocated, we rebuilt our entire dining room from the grounds up, adding an 18 seat full beer and wine bar and brining it in line with a modern NYC eatery establishments.

Throughout the years, we have always believed in using the freshest ingredients and relying on home made cooking. In our 5000 sq foot, split level kitchen, our people are working from the very early hours of the morning preparing everything from scratch – from our famous Shawarma, to the daily variety of soups, fresh ground in house beef burgers and much more.

As we enter our next phase in our evolution, we strive to build upon our diverse history and continue to modernize our menu to bring you new and exciting twists on traditional Jewish Mediterranean dishes.

For over 50 years in business, we wish you all the best and consider it a ‘Mitzva’ to serve you and your family.

Thank you,
The Owners

    1. Hi Rabbi,

You can turn down the heat a bit…

We removed the Grand Rabbi as the kosher supervision provider for Mr. Broadway.

Kosher Travel Info meant no dis-respect to you or to your Grand Rabbi. We are not sure what makes one a Grand Rabbi… But we will respect that title.

All you needed to do was ask. We clearly post all over our website, that all info is just that. For the purpose of helping kosher travelers find a Minyan, Kosher Restaurant, Mikvah and travel. We stress that everyone must verify the accuracy of that information. We are updating our information on a regular basis, including removing listings for Shuls and Minyunim that are no longer Orthodox, since this website is a guide for the Frum comunity.

Coming here and accusing us to post FALSE INFORMATION is rude.

Next time be nice and act like a true Chusid would act. The Chasiddishe way.
