About Beth Rambam

Congregation Beth Rambam is a vibrant and diverse Orthodox Sephardic synagogue located in Southwest Houston only minutes from the Medical Center and the Galleria. We planted our roots in the community more than 30 years ago beginning with only a few families who shared a common vision of establishing a synagogue where all Sephardic Jews can feel comfortable and continue to preserve their Sephardic traditions.

History of Beth Rambam

In the early 1980’s, Houston was already blessed with many synagogues. However, the need for a Sephardic Synagogue , had been on the minds of many but few had the vision to make it a reality. Three men got together and decided that it could be done. With this vision, they approached others in the community who also agreed that the time had come and the need for such a house of worship was indeed a good idea. Consequently, committees, were organized to recruit members of Sephardic / Middle Eastern / North African origins who wanted to maintain traditions of their forefathers for future generations. Extensive fund raising began throughout the country and even outside the U.S. Houses were volunteered for daily Minyanim until semi-permanent headquarters were set up in the Meadowwalk Townhouse Clubhouse. Today, Congregation Beth Rambam has members of all diverse background, Sephardic and Ashkenazi, American, Middle eastern and Israeli, several generations American and recent immigrants. We are grateful to all of you who helped put us together, have kept us together and will surely be together with us for many years to come. AMEN

Sisterhood

The congregation’s sisterhood is a very important part of our Synagogue. Its monthly meetings help organize many activities, events, and happy occasions, involving the extended community.

Services and Classes

Shabbat:

Shaharit: 9:00 A.M, followed by Kiddush (and lunch every Rosh Hodesh)
1 hour before Minha: Class in English with Rabbi Sasson
1 hour after Minha: Seuda Shelishit, Arvit, and Havdalla

Sunday:

Shaharit: 8:00 A.M, followed by a class with Rabbi Sasson
Bar-Mitzvah Lessons: Upon schedule. Call the office or email us for more information
Minha and Arvit: 20 minutes before sunset
1 hour after Minha: Class in English with Rabbi Wolbe (from Torch Kollel)

Monday – Friday:

Shaharit: 7:00 A.M, followed by a Gemara and a Halachot class with Rabbi Sasson
Minha and Arvit: 20 minutes before sunset

Tuesday:

1 hour after Minha: Class in Hebrew with Rabbi Sasson, along with a light meal

Thursday:

1 hour after Minha: Class in English with Rabbi Sasson, along with a light meal
