There are lots of Kosher & Jewish Travel “Blogs” that try to market themselves as a Jewish Travel Guide or Kosher Travel Guide. But in reality, most of them are just blogs. They are not guides at all. What they do is post blogs and bloat them with tags and keywords related to Jewish Travel and Kosher Travel.
We truly feel that Kosher Travel Info is a real Kosher & Jewish Travel Guide. What sets us apart? To answer the question I need to give a bit feedback on how I started Kosher Travel Info.
Way back in 2002 I had to travel a lot for the company I worked for. They send me at one point to Duseldorf, Germany for more than a week. Since I am Orthodox, I eat only kosher and at least try to Daven with a Minyan whenever possible. While preparing for my travel, I realized that besides for the regular logistics like airline tickets and the like, a Jewish kosher traveler is in need of the following four religious / logistical services:
- Minyan: A Jewish Orthodox Synagogue or Shul to go Daven
- Kosher Food: Kosher restaurants and/or Kosher grocery stores, etc.
- Mikvah: Kosher Mikvah when needed
- Lodging: Hotels or rentals near a Minyan so that you can walk to Shul on Shabbath
At the time, there was much less Jewish and Kosher websites catering to Frum Orthodox travelers. However, there were already a few, and they were quiet helpful for my needs. Two of them are:
- Go Daven, a service listing Minyunim all over the world
- Shamesh Kosher Database, a service listing kosher restaurants and other kosher establishments all over the world
In fact, both of them have improved a lot since then when they were both still simple websites with very simple navigation and page layout. I will forever be grateful to Go Daven and Shamesh Kosher Database for I have used their services extensively over the years.
At that time, an idea popped in my head: why not create a single kosher and Jewish website that is a guide and directory for all these four services (Minyan, Kosher Food, Hotels near Shuls and Mikvah) plus more. And this is how Kosher Travel Info was born.
And here you got it. We are not just a blog that is posting articles related to kosher and Jewish travel. We are an actual global kosher guide and directory. Our goal is to help you find a Minayn, Kosher Food, Mikvah and Hotels near Minyan. At the same time we hope to add other travel related guides and directories including car rental listings, airport information and more.
We recently updated our website to be more user friendly. We changed the layout so that it now works well on any screen size including tablets and mobile devices and added the ability for site visitors to quickly add a kosher listing.
