The Stony Brook Hebrew Congregation is an Orthodox synagogue with a warm atmosphere and diverse membership welcoming all levels of observance. We are a growing community of a friendly and intellectual nature. Our strong base of loyal founding members have all been part of SBHC for decades, and absorb all newcomers into their kind and close-knit family. We hold warm prayer services on Stony Brook University campus, and have regular social and holiday events geared towards all backgrounds. We also strive to create Jewish educational programs at a high level. Our community holds regular Parsha classes, lay-led Talmud study groups, a weekly Youth Chaburah, on-campus study sessions led by the Rabbi or the Rebbetzin, and a plethora of supplementary programs exploring contemporary issues and their interface with Judaism.
If you already live in Stony Brook or if you’re interested in working or attending school here, please contact us directly. We’d be happy to help you learn about the community, show you what we have to offer, and host you for Shabbos!
