Kosher Restaurants near JFK Airport

This article is a guide to kosher restaurants and kosher food near JFK Airport. I had to pick up a family member from the airport arriving from Israel at JFK Airport in Jamaica (Queens), New York. It was a late evening flight with a scheduled arriving time of 8:40pm. Now, we live in Rockland County, I work in Brooklyn but commute by bus every day. But for the day I was going to pick up the family member from the airport, I was going to drive in with my car in the morning and pick up form the airport after work. By the time I finished work, I was famished and running late. So I figured, I will either pick up our family member from the airport first and then we will both go to a nearby kosher restaurant near JFK airport or if the flight is delayed, I will pick up some food on the way to the airport. I started searching for kosher restaurants near JFK Airport and realized that this is a search topic for lots of people looking to get kosher food near the airport. (m…

ShopRite Kosher Deli Services, Complete Listing

ShopRite together with its parent company is the largest retailer owed cooperative in the United States and the largest employer in New Jersey. The reason I like ShopRite is because they really deliver value top their communities. They try to buy local produce and their buyers know what each communities need. A good example are all the ShopRite stores in Jewish neighborhoods with Kosher Deli’s under Rabbinical supervision. More about that later. ShopRite is also more than just a national supermarket chain. Most Shoprite stores have multiple departments including pharmacy, butcher, bakery, photo development, wine & liquor and flowers. And they stock what the locals need and buy. The Shoprite near Monsey, NY for example, has a very good flower shop. And they are always extra prepared before each major Jewish holiday. So the managers do know what goes on around in their communities. ShopRite stores in Jewish communities are very good stocked with kosher items incl…

Tannersville, New York Orthodox Jewish Community

Tannersville, New York was original a tanning town. Tannersville’s tanning business collapsed in the mid-19th century. It was gradually replaced by the summer resort trade, which reached its peak in 1882 when the railroad came to Tannersville. However, the rise of the automobile in the early 20th century led to a steady economic decline, as travelers were no longer rooted to one spot for an entire summer as was custom in that era. Today, Tannersville is a destination for orthodox Jewish residents from New York City during the summer season. There are currently four orthodox synagogues operating in the summer season, as well as a kosher supermarket on Main St. While none of the Orthodox Shuls are open during the year. However, many Frum Jewish families who own summer homes in Tannersville (or as they are now called, weekend homes) come up during the winter ski season and have a Minyan and Daven in one of the homes of the community members.
