West Side Jewish Center

The West Side Jewish Center is a vibrant synagogue and social center located in the heart of midtown Manhattan. It is adjacent to Pennsylvania Station, Madison Square Garden and the Jacob Javits Convention Center.

The synagogue offers classes, lectures and social programs for all ages. There is a full schedule of daily morning and afternoon minyanim, as well as Shabbat and Holidays.
Many members of our morning minyan work in the neighborhood. They come from all over the metropolitan New York City area. Some arrive by train at Penn Station; others by car and make use of the free parking adjacent to the shul.

Our traditional Kabbalat Shabbat services are sometimes followed by a festive dinner and socializing for young singles. See Friday Night Experience. Our Shabbat morning services are attended by members who live between Greenwich Village and the Clinton neighborhoods. We also receive numerous visitors from all over the world who are staying in the nearby hotels. After services, we host a sit-down kiddush where guests and regulars have an easy schmooze.

On Saturday afternoons before Mincha you are welcome to join our convivial discussions of the week’s Parsha, a chapter from Perkei Avos or a Talmudic passage chosen by Rabbi Herman.
