Congregation Ahavas Sholom is an Orthodox shul, situated in the City of Bexley, a comfortable suburb of Columbus. We have a membership of approximately 100 families. On a typical Shabbos, the shul attracts approximately 150 congregants. In addition, we have a teen minyan with around 30 youths, supervised by our youth director. Our membership spans all age groups and includes a sizeable number of children.
Our shul offers daily minyanim, extensive educational programs (including Daf Yomi, Gemara and Tanach classes), as well as numerous social and chesed programs. We are a warm, welcoming Orthodox shul and use the ArtScroll Siddur and Chumash. We have an innovative mechitza consisting of a series of one-way mirrors that allow women a full view of the shul, while fulfilling halachic requirements of preventing the men from viewing the women’s section. We have a diverse membership: some with yeshiva backgrounds, some modern orthodox, some with Chassidic leanings, and others newly observant or just interested in a traditional service. We are a congregation committed to Torah learning, Tefillah, Ahavas Yisrael and the State of Israel.
Columbus is a cosmopolitan Midwest community of approximately 1.7 million and a Jewish population of 24,000. Cost of living is quite affordable. We are home to 3 Orthodox synagogues, a Modern Orthodox K-12 Day School and an 8 member kollel.
