Beth Israel is a beautiful Modern Orthodox synagogue in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. We have daily minyanim morning and evening and an exciting array of programs for everyone.
Our synagogue is an affiliate of the OU organization.
Beth Israel, the Family Shul, is a forward-thinking synagogue, committed to Torah and mitzvot, with members from all backgrounds – Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, Canadians, Israelis, Americans, Europeans, Africans and Australaians. Our ‘family’ is passionate about Judaism and we look forward to welcoming you!
Come and see why we are the premier shul in Edmonton for:
- Israel advocacy – greatest number of participants at CIJA 2013
- Holocaust memory – our rabbi chairs the Holocaust Monument of Canada council
- Youth education – over 100 kids at our weekly programs
- Adult education – over 40 people at our weekly Shiur on the Barbie and hundreds of people at our biannual Shabbatons
- Women’s Learning – 20-25 women gather weekly for BMW (Beit Midrash for Women)
- Men’s Learning – multiple chavrusas meet each Thursday night for Mishmor
- Dynamic Bat-Mitzvah Programming – hosting the international MaTaN project, connecting mothers and daughters as links in the chain of our tradition
- Women “called” to the Torah – each year, many of our young ladies go off to Israel for a year of post-secondary seminary learning
- Festival programming – whether it’s Chanukah on Ice or Purim in the Caribbean, we are where the fun begins
- Daily minyanim – Need to say kaddish? We have morning and evening minyan 365 days a year
